Running for Women

Calling all women who are ready to run...

Running for Women is a run/walk program for women only, that starts at different times throughout the year. This is a coached group that meets twice a week for women who want to being running. Four groups are offered: beginning, intermediate, step it up, and stay fit. Not all classes are offered each session.

All classes are designed in a gentle run/walk format with exercise prescriptions that progress weekly.  Classes are closely coached with at least 1 coach per 10 runners.  Two coached classes weekly.  Additional weekly honor runs are done on your own.

Beginning
Designed to take women from “couch to 5K”. Class starts with  “1 minute run 5 minute walk”  intervals and gently increases.  Initial workouts will take about 35-40 minutes  working up to 45-50 minutes.  Prerequisite is ability to walk briskly for 30 minutes non-stop. This is a 12 week program

Intermediate
Continues on where beginning program left off. Prerequisite is ability to run 30 minutes non stop or 30 total running minutes in a run/walk workout.  Runs will take about 50-55 minutes total time and intervals will include more running and less walking than beginning program. This is a 10 week program

Step It Up
Designed as a class to improve endurance and speed by playing weekly running games in addition to running intervals similar to the intermediate class.  Prerequisite is ability to run 45 minutes continuously or 45 total running minutes in a run/walk workout. This is a 10 week program

Stay Fit!
Intervals are gentle (2.5/1 or 3/1) and runs are about 1.25-1.5 hours long with a monthly 7 mile run for good measure.  Prerequisite is completing an intermediate RFW class.

The cost is $149. Advance registration is required for all classes.
